Gengigel is a natural gel that:

How Does Gengigel Gel Work?
Genigel contains hyaluronic acid. This substance makes up 40% of the connective tissue in the human body and is also in gum tissue.

Genigel is an absolutely fantastic product for adults and children (3+) who are suffering with:

What causes gum and periodontal disease?
Put simply, the bacteria left between teeth and gums when teeth aren’t properly cleaned. You can also increase your risk of getting gum disease (or making it worse) if you:
- Smoke – which inhibits healing
- Have crowded or overlapping teeth where plaque and tartar can more easily build up.
- Have cancer or are undergoing hormonal change which can make you more prone to gum disease.
- Have a little too much drink! Alcohol lessens your ability to fight gum disease
Your body’s defense against bacterial infection is to inflame the affected area to alert the immune system that something’s wrong.
Gingivitis is the first warning sign that bacterial infection is developing in the gums.
Almost all of us suffer with this at some time and it can be easily treated by correct brushing and inter-dental care (eg: flossing) to reduce the bacterial load in the mouth.
If Gingivitis is not treated, it can develop into periodontitis. This means the inflammation has spread below the gum. Gums may start to recede and pull away from the teeth – which you can see in the diagram below. These ‘pockets’ are ideal breeding grounds for damaging bacteria.
If the condition becomes deep rooted, even a professional clean may not solve the problem. New bacteria will breed in the pockets before healing can take place.

Can receding gums come back?
It’s important to manage expectations here. In short, current thinking is that receding gums cannot grow back.

Hi Sajjad, thanks for your question. I think it is largely a matter of preference. Gengigel gel is more likely to deliver relief to a specific area in a higher concentration. However, the mouthwash is formulated to ‘stick’ to gum tissue and you might find it easier to use. The gel does tend to slip about and I find it’s best to apply with a cotton bud. Can you use this with chlorhexidrine if spaced apart?
Hi Yvonne. That’s an interesting question because I do use chlorhexidine products interchangeably with Gingigel with a week in between. Chlorhexidine does prevent the hyaluronic acid in Gingigel working. However, as I have receding gums I am prone to gingivitis and these two ingredients are brilliant for managing both conditions. Personally, the regime I am using works for me but I cannot find any research which proves that a break will enable both ingredients to work to their fullest extent. I can only say that if I use chlorhexidine products continuously, they stain my teeth so I’m happy to take a two week break, using Gingigel for one of those weeks. The best thing to do is check with your dentist next time you go. This is such a good question I’m going to edit the article to add to the section on side effects. Thank you.
And here’s more info… I have just reviewed Curasept Implant Mouthwash (you can read the review on this site). It contains chlorhexidine and hyaluronic acid. There are several clinical trials that demonstrate the efficacy of this product and I have started to use it all the time. I have emailed the makers, Curaprox. to ask them for more info about why they have combined these two ingredients when the makers of Gengigel claim that chlorhexidine prevents HA from working. Will let you know if I hear.

Very interested in this. Is it safe to use Curasept Implant Mouthwash all the time? What does it do to your mouth and teeth using it all the time? Don’t they suggest you use it for 10-14 days then have a break? I think this is what you did before right interspersing with Gengigel? Thanks, Danny.

Hi Ann, according to the manufacturer, there are no known side effects or drug interactions with Gengigel products. I am not a dentist but the hyaluronic acid in Gengigel is used by doctors, as well as dentists, for healing purposes immediately after surgery. Personally, I think it’s ideal to help with rapid healing and pain relief. If you are worried maybe see if you can speak to your dentist (though I appreciate that’s difficult right now). I would also go for the spray, as that means you don’t actually have to touch the area which must be sore. Another product great for your situation is Curasept. Does the spray or gel sting?
I started using the gel last night & yes. Immediately after I applied a thick blob it hurt so bad I couldn’t scream if I wanted to – but then I applied it to an abscess.
However! Within 5 minutes I was pain-free, and I was STILL pain-free when I woke up 8 hours later. I reapplied & boom, that initial pain that threatens to blow my head off then…painlessness.
I could cry, this stuff is amazing.
